Diagnosed with a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs a few months post India's World Cup triumph in 2011, cricketer Yuvraj Singh since then has been working tirelessly to spread awareness about the life threatening illness. On the occasion of the World Cancer Day he actively participated in an event in the capital city of New Delhi to talk about his battle with cancer. A visibly emotional Singh talked and encouraged people in their fight

.The 31-year-old said his aim is now to create awareness about the illness, especially in terms of early detection of cancer through his initiative 'YouWeCan'. "I want to give back to the society. Many cancer patients die because their disease is not detected early. Also, there is a stigma attached to it. The need is to address those issues," he told the media.

Singh has also collaborated with the Good Chime! initiative to promote the importance of good health and lifestyle. For Singh, this partnership is beyond just a celebrity endorsement, and he hopes young people follow his example of a healthy lifestyle to keep illnesses at bay. Dr Sreedhar Potarazu, President & CEO of Good Chimes! appreciated Singh's collaboration with the initiative and talked about the high impact the campaign will make by having a survivor like Yuvraj Singh represent them.
