Pakistani’s Malala Yousafzai was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize; Bangladesh elected its first woman speaker; women from Nepal, Afghanistan and Myanmar bagged the Magsaysay award and in India too women forced the government to strengthen laws and provide for more safety to women. At the same time, the country looked on with bated breath as anti-graft crusader Arvind Kejriwal dislodged reigning political hierarchies with his promise of power to the people.
